The Renault-Nissan Alliance has signed a cooperation agreement with Unibail-Rodamco, a European commercial property operator, investor and developer, to promote electric mobility, paving the way for sustainable mobility for all.

Having realized that the carbon footprint of shopping centers comes more from the mode of transport of its visitors than from the energy consumption of its buildings, Unibail-Rodamco has signed this agreement with Renault-Nissan to promote cleaner forms of transport.

The agreement, which will be finalized on 11 October 2010, will lead to the implementation by the Unibail-Rodamco Group of a charging infrastructure deployment plan between 2010 and 2012 in coherence with Renault’s EV launch schedule.

By the end of 2012, all of the Group’s shopping centers in France and Spain (22 centers in France and 14 centers in Spain) will be equipped with charging stations that will enable the visitors to recharge their EV batteries in 1 hour.

The partnership will also include organization of an EV presentation event in the Unibail-Rodamco shopping centers, where Unibail-Rodamco and Renault will offer the public exclusive test-drives of Renault’s new EVs, including Fluence ZE ahead of its commercialization planned for September 2011.

Unibail-Rodamco president of board Guillaume Poitrinal said that the company is convinced that by presenting Renault’s EVs to its customers, it is giving them a preview of the future, fulfilling its ambition to be a place of unique experiences.
