Under the contract, Qmastor will provide its pit to port, SMS3D and iFuse systems including project services and software maintenance and support for an initial five year period

The pit to customer management information system will offer logistic estimates of raw coal production, clean coal production, stockpile and quality management across the supply chain.

The solution will also provide information for transportation management of trains, conveyors and trucks, trans-shipment and export shipping management, despatch demurrage management and coal sales contract management.

QMASTOR COO Steve Maxwell said the company is pleased to extend its relationship with Vale into their coal division and the selection by Vale brings QMASTOR’s capacity to rapidly deliver a functionally rich solution for managing commodity quality and logistics in this major new coal province within southern Africa.

Vale has invested $1.66bn in the Moatize coal mine which will produce 11 million tons of metallurgical and thermal coal per year.
