Oil and gas company Vast Exploration has drilled Qara Dagh - 1 Exploration Well to a depth of 2,522m, and set and cemented an intermediate 9 5/8 inch casing string.

The well is found to be near the top of first of three primary drilling targets in the Cretaceous, the Shiranish formation.

Drilling operations will recommence after the logging and the geological survey of the current section are completed.

The Qara Dagh Block is located in the Zagros Fold Belt of Northern Iraq, and is consistent with the present discoveries in the area.

The Qara Dagh Block is Vast’s principal asset, and the company is keen on its exploration and development.
