The contract has been awarded by a joint venture formed by Scatec Solar and Statoil of Norway.
The plant will be located in the city of Quixeré, in the state of Ceará. It will consist of almost 500,000 solar panels covering an area of about 414 hectares.
It will generate nearly 317,844 MWh / year of power, which is equivalent to energy consumption of almost 165 thousand Brazilian families.
The solar power plant is expected to eliminate annual emission of over 206,600 tons of CO2 in the atmosphere.
Prodiel stated that it will start the construction works on the project immediately. Construction of the plant is expected to be completed in 11 months.
The Apodi solar farm is expected to begin commercial operations in the fourth quarter of 2018.
The project is part of the auction process conducted by ANEEL, the National Electric Energy Agency, in November 2015.
It is estimated to be built with an investment of over $215m.

In October, Statoil acquired 40% stake in 162MW Apodi solar plant in Brazil from Scatec Solar. Statoil had also acquired a 3.75% stake from Apodipar, increasing its stake in the solar plant is 43.75%.
Scatec Solar and Statoil currently hold 43.75% each in the solar power project and the remaining stake of 12.5% is held by Apodipar.
