The company was responsible for the installation supervision, commissioning and start-up of the 640MW unit.

The unit was sustained the least damage during an accident and was repaired with the Power Machines’ help within five months; and then resumed operations in March 2010.

The unit was closed after two years for planned renovation to replace main components with new ones and the scope of works included a full-scope examination of the turbine flowpath and upstream pipeline, installation of stabilizing ribs in the suction pipe, as well as installation and adjustment of main and auxiliary equipment

The renovation project had also included automatic control and protection, excitation, vibration and thermal control, technical water supply, fire-protection, ventilation, oil and air supply systems.

After completing individual testing of the unit’s equipment and systems, turbine no-load tests, network tests and a 72-hour comprehensive trial run to check the unit’s equipment and systems operation under load, the unit was brought into online.

The Sayano-Shushenskaya HPP’s capacity is 4,480MW with units one, five, six, seven, eight, nine and ten are in operation, units three and four have been shut down for maintenance and are planned to become operational in March and June 2014, respectively.
