Williams Partners has received a letter of award from Hess Corp to provide its proprietary floating production system, Gulfstar FPS, for the Tubular Bells field development in Gulf of Mexico.

The company will construct and install the Gulfstar FPS with a capacity of 60,000 barrels of oil per day and up to 200 million cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The floating production system has also the capability to provide seawater injection services.

Williams Partners, through its subsidiary Gulf Marine Fabricators, has issued a letter of award to Gulf Island Fabrication to build the hull portion of the Gulfstar FPS in Corpus Christi, Texas.

The company expects to award the topsides portion of the Gulfstar FPS to a Gulf Coast fabricator.

Williams Partners midstream business president Rory Miller said that Gulfstar is intended to be another tool that deepwater producers can deploy for field developments that utilize proven and reliable wet-tree technology.

Williams Partners is focused on natural gas transportation; gathering, treating and processing; storage; natural gas liquid fractionation; and oil transportation.
