Polarity has been awarded a contract by Lockheed Martin to provide its solar-inverter technology for deployable airfield power systems commissioned by the US Air Force.

Designed as a mobile unit, Polarity’s solar inverter will help power smart micro grids that reduce airfield-deployment burdens and improve power availability and efficiency by integrating renewable and other energy sources.

In all, the new system, known as the Integrated Smart-BEAR Power System (ISBPS), is expected to reduce fuel consumption by 25%.

Polarity is a power-supply manufacturer serving the defense, commercial, cleantech, industrial and medical industries.

Polarity president and CEO Wade Goins said that the ISBPS is a classic example of how the US military and engineering leaders in the private sector are solving problems and creating long-term solutions for military applications and beyond.
