Managing Director Energy Management Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) Thair Bashir Cheema said coastal regions of Balochistan and Sindh are suitable for installing wind power projects.

Cheema recalled that prime minister has inaugurated the 50 MW Zorlu Energy wind power project a few days back. Cheema said the government had created an alternative energy fund for implementation of alternative energy technologies in the country.

Cheema said the alternative energy fund would be used partly to finance economically viable projects, which need financial support to become viable and for the much-needed capacity building renewable energy sector.

Cheema said load shedding in most parts of the nation has ended. However, Cheema said, load shedding still continues in some villages.

Cheema said power deficiency has reduced to 600 MW and power supply situation is improving.
