Exelon currently owns 50.01% of CENG, which holds the operating licenses for five nuclear power reactors at three sites, namely Calvert Cliffs 1 and 2, Nine Mile Point 1 and 2, and R.E. Ginna, as well as associated independent spent fuel storage installations.

The remaining 49.99% stake in CENG is held by EDF, a subsidiary of Electricité de France.

The transfer enables Exelon to integrate the operations of the facilities into its existing nuclear fleet, without causing any physical changes to the on-site organizations and plant staffs, including senior managers.

In addition, the NRC staff noted that public health and safety will not be adversely affected by the license transfers.

Long Island Power Authority owns 18% of Nine Mile Point 2, which remains unaffected by the license transfers.
