New Boundary Technologies, Inc., a US based developer of software solutions for IT management and remote equipment monitoring and control, has partnered with the US Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star Service and Product Provider (SPP). As per the partnership, both the company and EPA will work together to improve energy efficiency, promote sustainability, and reduce harmful impact on the environment.

“Being a good corporate citizen is part of our mission statement and culture, and has been throughout the company’s history,” said Tom Diamond, president of New Boundary Technologies. “Our participation in the ENERGY STAR partner program is an opportunity for us to become environmental stewards and leaders in helping other organizations embrace energy conservation as a means to protect the environment now and for future generations.”

In partnership with ENERGY STAR, New Boundary Technologies will:

Develop and implement a plan consistent with the ENERGY STAR Energy Management Guidelines to achieve energy savings;

Communicate the importance of energy efficiency to our staff, our customers, and our community;

Encourage other organizations we work with to take the ENERGY STAR Challenge;

Develop and market software solutions that help organizations reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Consistent with the company’s participation in the Energy Star program, New Boundary Technologies recently released a Green IT Solution for managing PC power consumption that can cut an organization’s overall use of electricity by up to 15%, and cut use of electricity powering PCs by 60% or more. The Green IT Solution delivers centralized control of PC power management to IT departments, enabling enterprise-wide energy efficiency and cost savings. Powered by Policy Commander and the company’s unique PwrSmart technology, the Green IT Solution dramatically reduces PC power consumption, energy costs, and environmental impact.

Each year, U.S. companies waste an estimated $4 billion powering computers that are not being used. According to EPA estimates, the average PC in a fully powered state uses more than 700 kilowatts-hours of electricity, more than an average refrigerator, and wastes around 400 kilowatt-hours. Proactively managing PC power consumption can cut PC energy costs by 60% or more, or up to $350,000 annually for an organization with 5,000 PCs.

The Green IT Solution from New Boundary Technologies delivers significant cost savings by automating the implementation and enforcement of power management policies on Windows desktops and laptops. The solution deploys intelligent power management policies to every computer administrators choose to manage. It then monitors managed systems and automatically enforces the selected power management profiles and settings, even if end users try to disable or change them. By automatically enforcing PC power management, our Green IT Solution creates self-monitoring and self-maintaining computing environments that maximize savings with minimal impact on the IT staff.

“Environmental responsibility is everyone’s responsibility, and today I’m pleased that New Boundary Technologies is taking this motto to heart,” said EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson. “By making smart energy choices and helping their customers do the same, New Boundary Technologies is helping improve our nation’s energy and environmental outlook.”
