Nanosolar has signed long-term solar panel supply agreements with France-based EDF Energies Nouvelles and Germany-based Belectric and Plain Energy.

The supply agreements in total may account for up to 1GW of module deliveries and each of the supply agreements ranges from a three- to six-year term.

Belectric CEO Bernhard Beck said that Nanosolar’s industrial printing approach to manufacturing its utility-scale panel combined with its lower balance-of-systems costs will allow solar to be cost competitive with fossil fuels.

Each of the three European companies has worked with Nanosolar as a strategic partner since 2008.

Nanosolar designs, engineers and manufactures thin film solar cell and panels based on printing CIGS (CuInGaSe) nanoparticle inks.
