Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has secured an order from TransAlta Generation Partnership to supply two M501GAC gas turbines for installation at its Sundance 7 Power Generation Facility in Alberta, Canada.

MHI received the order from through MPS Canada, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas (MPSA).

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will manufacture and supply the generators for the plant while MHI to manufacture and supply the gas turbines.

MPSA’s Savannah Machinery Works in Georgia will responsible for all assembly work and production of some gas turbine components.

Construction is currently underway at the new natural gas-fired 800MW gas turbine combined cycle power generation plant which will produce enough electricity to meet the power needs of 900,000 homes in the region.

TransAlta Generation Partnership is a subsidiary of TransAlta Corporation.
