The Government of Canada is committed to growing our economy by making investments in green infrastructure and clean technology.

Defence Minister Harjit S. Sajjan, accompanied by Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of National Defence, John McKay, and the Member of Parliament for Chicoutimi-Le Fjord, Denis Lemieux, announced an investment of $1.2 million in a green infrastructure and clean technology project to improve the performance and energy efficiency of facilities at CFB Bagotville.

The majority of base buildings are energy-inefficient and do not meet current energy efficiency standards. A preliminary study will establish a list of measures to be taken and work to be performed. Among other things, work may include replacing light fixtures, installing solar panels to preheat the air in buildings, or improving building envelope air-tightness. Work will begin in the building which houses the base recreation center and in the CF-18 airplane hangar, due to their age and utilization factor.
