On March 26, 2014, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), the agency charged with overseeing the interstate natural gas pipeline system, granted Millennium’s request for Authorization to Commence Service at the Hancock Compressor Station.
"We are thrilled to announce the Hancock Compressor Station is now in service and will help move natural gas more efficiently throughout the northeast," said Millennium President Joseph Shields. "We would like to thank everyone involved in helping make this project a reality. It allows us to deliver clean, natural gas to our customers."
During the five-month construction period, the Hancock Compressor project employed more than 75 local construction workers, many from local labor unions. Local restaurants and hotels saw a big increase in business over the cold winter because of all the local construction activity. As a result of this capital investment, Delaware County and the Town of Hancock will enjoy new streams of revenue.
"Now that spring is here, we can get to work restoring and landscaping the site," said Shields. "Our goal is for the facility to be barely noticeable to our neighbors. We are committed to being a responsible and committed corporate neighbor in the years to come."
