Finland-based Metso Corporation has secured a contract from Bioenergeticheskaya Kompaniya for the supply of a 4MW biomass-fired combined heat and power plant.
The plant will be installed in Syktyvkar city of the Komi Republic in Russia.
As per the agreed terms, Metso will supply process equipment as well as technical advisory services for installation, commissioning of the plant.
The delivery will also comprise of a Metso belt dryer and a Metso DNA automation system.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Transport of the Republic of Komi Alexander Gibezh said that the collaboration with Metso will help the utility make better utilization of the sawmill residues from the Syktyvkar sawmill.
Metso Russia Power business line director Nikolay Doroshenko added, "This power plant is an important milestone in the development of distributed power generation based on the vast renewable biomass resources of Russia."
Bioenergeticheskaya Kompaniya provides and markets electricity and has a wide range of plans for investments in the Komi region.
The energy generated will be used to power the local grid while heat will be utilized in the belt dryer.
