Leme Engenharia, a subsidiary of Suez's Tractebel Engineering in Brazil, has finalized the acquisition of the Brazilian energy sector engineering company BC Projetos.

Specializing in the field of cogeneration installations, thermal power generation and energy optimization studies, BC Projectos has reportedly designed the first combined cycle power plant in Brasil. The company delivers services to energy sector customers such as Petrobras, Electrobras, Endesa, Alstom, Total and BP.

With this acquisition, Tractebel Engineering reportedly strengthens its technical competence base in Brazil as BC Projetos’s experts in thermal power generation will expand the competence base of Leme Engenharia, which is mainly oriented towards hydropower and power transmission networks.

Tractebel Engineering is also hoping to strengthen its position in Latin America and enhance the conditions under which it will offer engineering services related to the construction of power plants.

Suez Energy International in particular is expected to benefit from this assistance to accompany their development projects in Latin America.
