The Indian government has given clearance for the export of India’s largest ever order for power generating equipment. It comes from Iraq and involves the despatch of four gas turbine generators under the UN’s oil-for-food programme. India’s heavy industries minister Manohar Joshi was present at the ceremony to mark the successful completion of the testing procedures for the first turbo generator, a 159 MW unit and the largest ever exported from India. The unit will be shipped to Iraq’s Baiji gas turbine project at Salah-aldeen governorate and will be ready for commissioning by November this year.
