US-based developer and manufacturer of solar plastic films Konarka Technologies has signed a commercial alliance with Australian solar company Nu Energy, to initiate deployment of its organic photovoltaic technology into the Australian market for both commercial and residential applications.

The thin, light-weight and flexible characteristics of Konarka’s Power Plastic makes it conducive to a wide range of uses, and Power Plastic captures both indoor and outdoor light and converts it into direct current (DC) electrical energy.

Manufacturers can integrate the material into their products for both commercial and residential uses, creating energy producing products.

Nu Energy chief executive officer Simon Schauble said that this partnership gives Nu Energy additional solutions for its residential and commercial customers, adding value to their properties and reducing energy bills even further.

Nu Energy has installed more than 18,000 solar systems throughout Australia in households, large industrial sites and government applications.
