CPV Renewable Energy, an affiliate of Competitive Power Ventures, has commenced commercial operation of the 152MW Keenan II wind farm in northwest Oklahoma, US.

Keenan II, located on approximately 8,000 acres near Woodward, comprises 66 Siemens wind turbines each with a capacity of 2.3MW.

This is the second phase of a multi-phased wind power project with a total capacity exceeding 350MW.

Electricity generated from the Keenan II project will be supplied to Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OG&E), as part of a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The wind farm is expected to produce enough electricity to power about 45,000 average Oklahoma homes.

In addition to CPV, GE Energy Financial Services and Tyr Keenan II, an indirect subsidiary of Itochu Corp, are also co-owners of the wind farm.

In September 2008, CPV developed and sold the 101MW Keenan I wind farm to OG&E.
