The move is part of the Indian state’s plan to enhance the generation capacity.

J&K Power Minister Vikar Rasool said that the state has given importance for laying LT/HT lines apart from installing transformers to building new receiving stations in rural and hilly areas under the Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana.

Rasool further said that the state has been successful in starting measures in transmission and distribution losses of power. In addition, J&K Hydro-Electric Projects Development Policy 2011 was notified to encourage involvement of private players.

Going forward, the state will enhance power infrastructure in R.S. Pura towns under R-APDRP scheme.
