Japan has signed agreed minutes with Bangladesh to consider the possible inclusion of two additional units at Kaptai hydro power project.

The agreed minutes were signed following a meeting between the Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC) and the Bangladesh Ministry of Finance.

During a week-long stay in Bangladesh, the group from JBIC collected detailed information about the Kaptai project (units 6 and 7) which will be implemented by Bangladesh Power Development Board. They held intensive discussions with the project authority and various government departments.

On returning to Tokyo, JBIC will report to the Japanese government about the results of their findings for future consideration of extending assistance to the project.
