Jacobs Engineering has secured a contract with ExxonMobil to provide engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services for the crude flexibility engineering and construction project at the Beaumont refinery in Texas, US.

The contract value has not been disclosed.

The project is part of ExxonMobil’s plan to improve energy efficiency and increase crude production capacity by approximately 20,000 barrels a day at the refinery.

Jacobs Group vice-president Manuel Junco said: "We are pleased to build upon our long-term relationship with ExxonMobil and strengthen our presence at the Beaumont Refinery as we help them reach their goals on this project."

The expansion will help ExxonMobil strengthen its integrated downstream portfolio in Southeast Texas.

ExxonMobil Beaumont refinery manager Fernando Salazar earlier said: "The expanded crude unit at Beaumont refinery supports the company’s position as a leader in the global energy market by improving the production slate, and enabling improvement in the product yield in a highly energy-efficient manner that will further strengthen the industry-leading position of our assets."
