Interfax news agency cited a Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov as saying to reporters that the company is prepared to help construction of the turnkey Chihuido-1 and Chihuido-2 hydropower plants in Argentina’s Neuquen Province.

The first plant will cost $2b and would have capacity of 637MW while the second will have 296MW.

Parent company Inter RAO won a tender to draft technical plans, in March, for the Chiuido-1 plant.

Upon negotiations, the tender commission recommended Inter RAO to sign a contract with a consortium, of Energomashexport Equipamentos e servicos de consultoria and OJSC Gidroenergostroy.

Separately, Russia’s Silovye Mashiny has signs a contract for the supply of turbine for the Putna Negra hydropower unit at the amount of $19m.

Russia President Vladimir Putin was quoted by ITAR-TASS as saying that, "The company is ready to take part in modernising the Argentine-Uruguayan Salto Grande hydroelectric dam. Both parties work on the Argentina-Patagonia hydroelectric project."
