India’s Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation is developing two major hydro schemes in Doda, with a further 25 micro projects being constructed elsewhere in the state.

The two schemes in Doda, the 240MW Kirthar and 37.5MW Puranai projects, are being developed on an IPP basis. The micro hydro schemes also being constructed include the 1.85MW Tulail, 1.3MW Hanswar and the 1MW Pogalgarh.

The projects are expected to provide electricity to both rural and urban areas of the state.
