The project with a total 114,000-square-foot photovoltaic (PV) array will produce a 1,336,300 kWh of clean electricity annually.

The retailer uses all the energy produced by the solar installation reducing carbon emissions by 1,016tons per annum.

Commenting on the installations IKEA Frisco store manager Robby Wierman said "We are thrilled at how this solar energy system furthers our commitment to sustainability at IKEA Frisco,"

"IKEA has a never-ending job where most things still remain to be done that encourages us always to ask ourselves how we can improve what we do today for a better tomorrow," added Wierman.

The installations in Chicago mark the 30th solar power installation at IKEA’s stores with a total installed capacity of 38MW energy.
