The electric cars dependent upon a combination of gasoline and electric power are lacking the required infrastructure and to combat this hurdle, Honda has said that it will begin a testing program of new electric vehicle charging stations in three cities in Japan.

The company has also begun the trial testing of an electric vehicle charging station, powered by solar energy, Catholic Online reported.

When electric vehicles were first discussed, manufacturers had planned to replace one fossil fuel for another with coal for generating electricity to power the vehicles, in lieu of gasoline.

The news agency said that electric vehicles will reduce the carbon emissions in the process by using renewable energy to power electric vehicles.

The plan is also for electric scooters, electric carts and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Honda will monitor the effectiveness of the charging station in terms of electricity generating and will find ways to enhance the convenience and usability of the charging station for customers.
