The UK's Institute of Directors (IOD) has teamed up with a consultancy called Octo, also based in the UK, to develop a crisis management programme for directors and senior executives to help them handle potential crises.

The programme takes the form of a two-day workshop and can be conducted at a client’s own premises.

A recent leader article in The Economist noted that the real test of a company’s strength is “how it handles the bad times,” and that “the way in which a company manages a downturn is not only the best proof of its bosses’ mettle; it may also determine how well a business does when things improve.”
