Egypt and Libya have agreed to activate a link joining their grids. The link will consist of a 180 km line joining the two grid networks.

Egyptian Energy Minister Ali el-Saeidi said the link will begin by carrying 120 MWe for two months from the end of December 1999.

Egypt has already linked its grid with Jordan’s. This was started in March 1999, and includes four cables laid across the Gulf of Aqaba.
