On July 29, 2009 Greenearth Energy secured the WDI 2,000 HP Rig 828 by paying a nonrefundable deposit for the drilling of two deep geothermal wells into a hot sedimentary aquifer located 11 km’s north west of the Anglesea brown coal fired power station.
Greenearth Energy and WDI are now completing a formal drilling contract.
The back-to-back drilling program will afford Greenearth Energy a cost effective means to advance its proof-of-concept geothermal power scheme to commercial demonstration stage.
Greenearth Energy intends to apply for $7 million in funding from the second round of the Federal Government’s Geothermal Drilling Program to assist with the proof-of-concept stage of the company’s Geelong geothermal power project.
