Walgreens stores were fitted with lamps that had a higher color temperature and color rendering index.

New linear fluorescent fixtures from GE Lighting are expected increase energy efficiency by 9% and extend re-lamp cycles by ten percent.

The new lighting fixtures, according to the company will save Walgreens thousands of dollars per annum.

Commenting on the new lighting from GE, Walgreens divisional vice president of facilities management, energy and sustainability Tim Schmid said that with the new lighting colors appear more vibrant.

"Plus, the change is saving us money and energy at the same time," added Schmid.
