Russia’s OMZ-Spetsstal (part of OMZ Group) has completed manufacture of forgings for the VVER-1000 reactor pressure vessel for unit 3 of India’s Kudankulam NPP, OMZ said on 22 June. Forgings made of reactor vessel steel grade 15X2HMOA, have completes the required research and tests, heat treatment and preliminary machining and have been handed over to Izhorskiye Zavody, also part of the OMZ Group, for further development as parts for the reactors vessel. The contract for equipment manufacture (reactor vessel with internals and upper unit, pressurizer, and main circulation circuit) for Kudankulam 3 was signed by Izhorskiye Zavody in August 2015.
