The company invested around $310m in the project, which is owned by Enel Green Power North America’s (EGPNA) subsidiary Goodwell Wind Project.

The wind farm is anticipated to generate 860 million KWh of clean electricity enough to power over 73,000 US households, while displacing about 450,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually.

The electricity generated at the facility will be sold under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

EGP CEO and general manager Francesco Venturini said: "The Goodwell facility is the fifth wind farm that EGP has brought into operation since entering the Oklahoma market in 2012. The project underscores EGP’s ongoing investment in the state and in the US renewable energy market.

"We are rapidly progressing on our capacity expansion targets coupled with community initiatives including infrastructure and education to ensure that we deliver truly sustainable development in every region in which we are present."

EGPNA secured partial financing for the project from a consortium led by J.P. Morgan, as part of a capital contribution agreement it signed in July last year.

The company owns and operates over 90 plants in 21 US states and two Canadian provinces. To date, the company has a total installed capacity of over 2,200MW.
