Endesa’s total worldwide output of electricity generated from hydro power was up by 10.9% in 2003 compared to figures for the year before, with much of the increase thanks to conditions in Spain and Brazil.

In Spain alone, the total output from hydro power last year was 11,548GWh, a 46% increase on the 2002 figure of 7903GWh. Some 11.8% of Spain’s total electricity in 2003 came from hydro power.

On the other side of the Atlantic, high rainfall last year allowed a 21% increase in output at Brazil’s Cachoeira Dourada hydro plant over 2002.

Of Endesa’s total global output of 162,087GWh last year, 30% came from the company’s hydroelectric stations.
