eMeter said that ELO is developing a smart metering solution in response to Brazil’s push to replace up to 63 million electric meters in the country by 2021.

ELO chose to offer a complete smart metering and information management solution for its utility customers to help increase automation, address non-technical loss and improve energy reliability and quality.

According to the company, ELO realized that a smart meter implementation can only be successful if a scalable and extensible software infrastructure is also put in place to manage the smart meter data and integrate with the utility’s core back end systems.
