The utility will deploy Elster’s EnergyAxis solution to create a hosted AMI system that will improve customer service and meter reading for its residents. CNEL services nearly 30% of the nation’s customer base.
The initial phase of the EnergyAxis deployment includes over 15,000 endpoints and about 900 Low Voltage (LV) AGInodes to monitor distribution transformers in the cities of Manta, Puerto Viejo and Machala.
In the next phases, the installation will done in other CNEL regional distribution firms, including Esmeraldas, Santa Elena, Milagro, Guayas-Los Rios, Los Rios, Bolivar, Santo Domingo and Sucumbios.
Elster Solutions president Ed Myszka said, "In addition to an AMI deployment in Electrica de Guayaquil, Elster’s EnergyAxis now has more than 35,000 endpoints in Ecuador."
The EnergyAxis system is expected to help the energy corporation protect revenue, reduce non-technical losses and improve operations.
