The company will provide energy efficiency services under GSA’s smart buildings initiative, and will help provide a template for more than 20 federal office buildings with similar needs.

The energy efficiency project is expected to be completed in 2013.

GSA has secured a $133m federal stimulus grant, for the building modernization project.

Eaton said the project will enable the building to meet U.S. Green Building Council’s leadership in energy & environmental design platinum standards by integrating innovative, sustainable technologies.

Eaton offers a spectrum of solutions designed to reduce energy consumption and leave a smaller footprint on the environment.
