Ecology and Environment, through its subsidiary E & E do Brasil, has been awarded a US$1.1M contract from BRASIL PCH to perform environmental management services for five hydro power plants being constructed in Brazil.

The small hydro power plants have being developed to provide local energy distribution while minimising environmental and social impacts. The structures are part of the Brazilian Incentive Program for Alternative Sources of Energy, which contributes to the development of renewable energy.

Within the next two years, approximately 50 environmental mitigation plans are to be generated. E & E do Brasil will oversee the implementation of the construction and mitigation programmes and all environmental aspects for BRASIL PCH and seek approval with the Brazilian Environment Agency (IBAMA).
