The Karnice-I, which was given final regulatory approval in the spring of 2008, will be located in the municipality of Karnice in northeastern Poland. Dong Energy is already the operator of the nearby 31MW Lake Ostrowo wind farm, which became operational in 2007.

In addition to Karnice-I, Dong Energy’s current projects include the 30MW Storrun onshore wind farm in Sweden, the 209MW Horns Rev-II offshore wind farm in Denmark, as well as the 173MW Gunfleet Sands and the 151MW Walney offshore wind farms in the UK.

Anders Eldrup, Dong Energy’s CEO, said: Poland is an interesting market offering attractive settlement terms, and we are pleased to initiate the construction of our second wind farm in the country. The project is an important step in our strategy for expansion in renewable sources of energy.
