Diversified Technologies has launched a new micro-grid power distribution system for renewable energy resources.

The PowerMod Micro-Grid Power Distribution System will be used for simple integration of wind and solar power generators by transmitting DC power along a cable which is suitable for up to 1MW power transfer.

According to the firm, the system offers a link cost as low as $1 per watt, depending upon configuration.

The power distribution system features direct solid-state switching and includes a DC power supply, DC cable and down converter for providing AC or DC power at the load end point, the company said.

The company also said eliminating the limits of AC point-to-point installation, a generator or load can be placed any-where along the cable which is suitable for about 1MW power transfer from these renewable energy sources.

The new system, that provides constant 10kV DC transmission at up to hundreds of kilometers for wind turbines and solar power generators, uses PowerMod High Voltage Solid-State Switch Modules that provide over one million hour predicted reliability per MIL-HDBK-217F.

Diversified Technologies is the developer and marketer of the PowerMod line of high voltage, high power pulse modulators, DC power supplies and control systems.
