The 20MW project has been engineered and constructed by Cupertino Electric, under a five-year PG&E clean energy initiative, which includes up to 250MW of utility-owned solar generation.

PG&E said the commercial operation date of the 20 MW project is slated for 29 June 2012.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) senior vice president of energy supply John Conway said that the new solar facilities demonstrate its ongoing commitment to providing its customers with some of the cleanest energy in the nation.

"We’re proud that more than half of our electricity comes from sources that are renewable or emit no greenhouse gases," said Conway.
