Aker Wade Power Technologies, a developer of fast chargers and battery management systems for electric vehicles, and Coulomb Technologies, have jointly launched their Networked DC Fast Charging Stations for Electric Vehicles (EVs).

The ChargePoint CT3000 family of Networked DC Fast Charging Station, designed in accordance with the CHAdeMO standard can charge EV battery in half an hour and accommodates two connectors, ensuring uninterrupted business in the event of a transition away from connector standard.

The charging stations, which can convert AC 480V, three-phase electric service to the DC CHAdeMO standard, will be qualified for use with several EV brands including the Nissan LEAF and the Mitsubishi i MiEV.

Automotive supplier Magna ECAR Systems is the first customer to purchase the DC Fast Charger, which is designed to be accessible to all drivers of plug-in vehicles by making a toll free call to a 24/7 number on the charging station.

ChargePoint Network provides information on the charging status by SMS text or email notification, location of unoccupied charging stations via smart phones and includes smart grid integration with built in utility grade metering, time of use pricing and demand response control.

Aker Wade CEO Bret Aker said that the DC Fast Charging Stations for EVs are user friendly, intuitive and featured with an integrated network that makes it easy to Find, Charge and Pay –- three vital components of a viable business model for owners.
