Constellation Energy, a supplier of energy products and services, has completed the acquisition of CPower, an energy management and demand response provider, thereby expanding its dispatchable demand response capacity to more than 1,500MW throughout North America.
The CPower acquisition will enable Constellation Energy, which manages demand response capacity programs in New York, New England, the Mid-Atlantic states, California, Texas and Ontario, Canada, to expand the range of its products and services to serve new customers and business partners.
These demand response programs are expected to be critical components of the smart grid and provide customers direct financial incentives to reduce electricity demand during peak demand periods more efficiently and sustainably.
The agreement will facilitate both the companies’ cross-selling opportunities and operational capabilities, thereby enhancing demand-management product development.
CPower CEO Gary Fromer said that CPower is excited to join Constellation Energy in an endeavor to provide value to its customers and business partners, and to develop offerings based upon its online energy management product VirtuWatt that has otherwise been unavailable in demand response markets.
