The company today signed a purchase agreement to retrofit a 25 Million Btu/h Once-Through Steam Generator (OTSG) used for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) in the oil fields of Bakersfield, California.

The OTSG retrofit is planned to commence in the third quarter of 2015 and installation will be managed by ClearSign partner Advanced Combustion and Process Controls, Inc. (ACPC). David Bopp, ACPC’s president, explained how the customer chose ClearSign’s Duplex Technology: "For this oil producer, the decision to purchase Duplex was a simple one. ClearSign has the only technology that will not only help them meet the San Joaquin Valley’s strict NOx emissions standards in a very cost-effective manner, but will actually save them money on fuel. Other NOx control methods, like low-NOx burners that require Flue Gas Recirculation (FGR), are expensive and increase operating expense. ClearSign’s Duplex Technology completely changes that equation."

Bopp, whose company is ClearSign’s Bakersfield representative, noted that ClearSign’s field demonstration with Aera Energy was a major factor in the customer’s decision to purchase Duplex Technology for their operation: "They were extremely impressed by the results Aera Energy and ClearSign are reporting from the installation at the Belridge, California site. Duplex has met the required NOx emissions of 5 PPM or less, while supplying steam at the quality and capacity required for oilfield operations. Additionally, they have validated a measurable and significant increase in energy efficiency. This customer recognizes Duplex will bring major economic benefits to their operation."

ClearSign CEO, Steve Pirnat, commented, "This commercial order represents another important milestone for ClearSign. We have seen a great deal of interest and excitement in our very successful installation at Aera and we are pleased that this is beginning to result in commercial bookings."
