AMAJORITY OF CANADIANS

support the development of more hydro power projects, according to a Léger Marketing study, commissioned by the Canadian Hydropower Association (CHA).

Results of the study reveal that 71.8% of the 1508 Canadians questioned support the development of more hydro power projects to meet growing energy demands.

The study also shows that 85% agree that hydro is a clean and renewable source of energy, while nearly 60% say that it is developed with respect for the environment.

Meanwhile, members of the CHA attending the annual meeting recently claimed that hydro power is the only source of electricity that can help Canada significantly reduce its greenhouse gas emissions.
