Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) were GBP129 million for the first quarter of 2008, compared to GBP253 million for the same period of 2007.

Revenue was GBP629 million for the first quarter ended June 29, 2008, compared to GBP668 million for the same period of 2007. Total output for the period was 11.4TWh, compared to 13.8TWh for the first quarter of 2007.

Bill Coley, CEO of British Energy, said: We have continued to make good progress towards resolving the plant issues that have significantly impacted our performance in the year to date. Two of the four units at Hinkley Point B and Hunterston B have already achieved operation at 70% load as planned and we expect to raise load on the remaining two units to this level in due course.
