The wind farm is slated for more than 11 miles off Rehoboth Beach.

In early December, 2008, Rob Propes from Bluewater Wind has announced its plan to build an operations and maintenance facility somewhere between Lewes and the Indian River Inlet. The facility will create up to 60 jobs.

In 2011, the company will purchase its wind turbines, and need to tap heavily into the credit markets.

Hunter Armistead, head of Babcock’s North American Energy Development Group, says that “fully committed to this project, and looking forward to working with Delaware on it.”

Bluewater can’t get started on getting federal permits until the Minerals Management Service finalizes its rules set for for offshore power generating facilities.
