Covering order for construction materials, supply and installation of the equipment and materials, construction and erection works, the contract is likely to be signed early next month, Dhaka Tribune reports.

The development was also confirmed by RNPP project director, Mohammad Shawkat Akbar.

Valued at $45.9m, the first contract was signed with Atomstroyexport for pre-construction works, including feasibility evaluation (FE), environment impact assessment (EIA), and development and engineering survey at the RNPP site, in June 2013.

BAEC signed a second $265m contract in October 2013, for the plant’s preparatory stage work, including the development of design documentation, first priority working documentation and engineering survey for the design stage.

Both contracts form part of $500m funding Russia agreed to provide for the ground work at Rooppur under the government-appointed Atomstroyexport, which will also run a total of 63 tests as part of the pre-construction works.
