The new facility, which will produce Astronergy a-Si/uc-Si thin film modules, is part of ‘A Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement for the Solar Industry’ signed between Chint Group and Gansu’s Development and Reform Commission.

Under this agreement, Astronergy will setup 1,000MW in grid-connected PV projects before 2020 with the full support of the Chint Group in addition to investing in and establishing 200MW of PV cell and module production before 2015.

Chint Group vice president Chen Jianke said that the 200MW thin film production project, covering 200 acres and requiring a total investment of CNY2.9bn, will generate CNY20bn in annual sales once up and running.
