French company AREVA has completed production of the first fuel assemblies for the Taishan 1 EPR, under construction in China. The assemblies are being made at AREVA's Romans plant in France.

AREVA said in a statement that production of the first core for Taishan 1 would take place in three campaigns, and that the first has now been completed.

The EPR fuel assemblies are expected to be delivered to the customer Taishan Nuclear Power Joint Venture Company (TNPJVC) in 2014, it said.

In total, the EPR reactors core consists of 241 fuel assemblies.
