The contracts, which are currently valued at around €10.79m, are expected to reach about €16.25m.
The scope of the contracts include upkeep, maintenance and operation of wastewater plants in zone MA-7 in Mallorca, wastewater pumping stations and the sewer mains for Abaqua, which is the Balearic Islands Water and Environmental Quality Agency.
Acciona will also engage in the wastewater treatment and maintenance and upkeep of the sanitation facilities in zone ME-2 in Menorca).
With a possibility for three-year extension, the two contracts will begin in December and continue for six years.
The company’s first contract is said to represent €4.44m in revenues and could reach €6.67m. It covers Llucmajor, Felanitx, Porreres, Cas Concos and Randa wastewater treatment plants.
Llucmajor plant will produce up to 1.8 million cubic metres of water per year, which will be supplied to water golf courses and the remaining will be returned to the Mediterranean. Other installations are expected to treat around 1.3 million cubic metres
The contract of wastewater treatment and asset maintenance and upkeep in zone ME-2 will allow Acciona to generate €6.39m in revenues and extend it up to €9.58m.
Under the contract, the company will cover Ciudadela Sur, Ciudadela Norte, Cala Galdana, Ferrerías and Es Migjorn wastewater treatment plants.
Ciudadela Sur wastewater plant will treat 3.5 million cubic metres per year, helping to serve a population of 87,500. Other plants are expected to treat 1.1 million cubic metres.
Acciona Agua provides services to around three million people in around 70 municipalities of Spain.
